Julie Gunter is the Program Supervisor for Customer and Provider Engagement. She has been with the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program for six years and a State of Texas employee for 26 years. Her experience spans four different state agencies: Texas Department of Health serving patients with end-stage renal disease, Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services serving individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Delays, Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, and the Texas Workforce Commission serving Vocational Rehabilitation customers. This broad span of experience has allowed Julie to gain the skills necessary to serve the most vulnerable populations as well as the most determined, gifted, and capable individuals she has ever had the opportunity to meet.
Julie was led to public service at the age of 19 because she not only wanted to serve her fellow Texans, but she also wanted to make a difference in their lives. One of Julie's greatest accomplishments was creating the Rapid Engagement Team which allows anyone in Texas to make one contact and receive life-changing services. Julie has a passion for VR because she has a disability, and both of her daughters have disabilities which allow her to fully understand the customer's frustrations, concerns, and aspirations to reach their full potential. She has passion, determination, dedication, and drive to make a difference in those around her.
