Halloween week to feature special events for students, public

Trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, drag show, dance among activities

The week of Halloween promises plenty of fun at University of Wisconsin-Stout, with several special events scheduled for students and the public.

For the 22nd straight year, the north campus residence halls will hold their trick-or-treat event for area children, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The event at Red Cedar, Fleming-Hovlid and Wigen halls includes games and activities. Read more here.

The University Library at UW-Stout is holding a student organization window decorating contest. Judging will be on Halloween.Other themed activities include:

  • Monday, Oct. 28, 7 to 9 p.m., pumpkin decorating in the ballrooms of the Memorial Student Center, with free pumpkins to the first 75 students. Sponsored by the Involvement Center.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m., the annual amateur Fall Draw Show, in the Great Hall of the student center. This year’s theme is “A Night on Broadway.” The show is hosted by the campus Gender and Sexuality Alliance.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7:30 to 10 p.m., the Stout Swing Club Halloween Dance in the ballrooms of the student center.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 8 to 10 p.m., Haunted Basement for students in the HKMC residence hall.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, judging will take place for the University Library’s annual Halloween Window Decorating Contest, open to student organizations. First place is a pizza party.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:30 to 8 p.m., the Qube Halloween Party, 121 Merle M. Price Commons. The Qube is UW-Stout’s LGBTQ headquarters.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, 8 p.m., Open Mic Night and a costume contest, sponsored by Blue Devil Productions, at the Terrace, student center.

To cap off the week, on Friday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m., the annual Fall Yard Cleanup will take place. Students will gather at the Involvement Center in the student center and go into the community to help residents who have requested help with raking and other fall chores.

Several other Halloween-themed events also were held last week on campus.
