Jim Selz and John Buss have received the University Staff Employee Appreciation Award for February and March, respectively, at UW-Stout.
Selz, of Menomonie, is a food service assistant director of University Dining. He has worked at UW-Stout for 47 years.
His nomination stated: “Jim goes above and beyond daily to ensure products we purchase meet contract guidelines, are of high quality and are cost-effective to benefit the students on campus. Jim's attitude toward others is always exceptional. Jim works very well with external vendors and peers, both in Dining Services and in other departments on campus, does an excellent job of sharing his knowledge with others and uses his experiences and understanding of UW procedures to help others in their roles. Jim always wants to see others succeed, and if he can help them to do so he does.”
Buss, of Chippewa Falls, is the instrument shop supervisor in the engineering and technology department. He has worked at UW-Stout for 24 years.
His nomination stated, "John goes above and beyond to make sure all staff, students and visitors feel welcome in the Jarvis Hall area of Stout. He always has a kind word, a fun attitude and a joyous smile. If anyone has a need, he usually is the first one to step up to the plate to offer assistance. John looks out for others, guides them and is an instant friend to everyone in the building. He shows us what Stout Proud is all about: valuing others and getting the job done while enjoying what you do. John actively demonstrates servant leadership and is the friendly, outgoing and helpful face of Jarvis Hall.”
Each employee of the month receives a certificate of recognition, a UW-Stout travel mug and a UW-Stout blanket presented by Chancellor Katherine Frank.
Students, faculty and staff may nominate university staff members who demonstrate a commitment to excellence and the university community.
The award, in its 16th year, was established by the Chancellor’s Office and is co-sponsored by the University Staff Senate.
