Scholarships are Abundant at Stout

Encourage your student to apply.
November 21, 2019

As parents, we want our children to attend college so they can earn the career of their dreams. But we know that a quality college education comes with a price. One significant way you can help to offset college loan debt is by encouraging your student to take advantage of the various scholarship opportunities offered by UW-Stout.

In 2019, we were able to award more than $812,000 in scholarships to 418 students, and that number continues to grow each year.

The Stout University Foundation offers many scholarship opportunities for full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students. Each of these scholarships was created through the generosity of our alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the university.

Tips to help your student through the scholarship process

  • Encourage them to apply! Applying is easy. One application will automatically qualify them for any scholarship they meet the criteria for.
  • Don’t let them wait until the last minute to apply. Your student will need to complete the scholarship application AND submit a letter of recommendation by February 3, 2020.
  • Help to proof their application and give feedback. Encourage them to make their applications memorable, personal, and free of spelling and grammatical errors.

Each application is read and scored by three separate scholarship readers. Their application is an opportunity for them to speak directly to those readers.

While Stout University Foundation scholarships are competitive, your student may qualify for a different scholarship as they move through their educational career at UW-Stout, so encourage them to apply every year.
