Lor receives October University Staff Appreciation Award

Human Resources payroll and benefits specialist recognized for ‘exceptional customer service skills’

Joua Lor received the University Staff Appreciation Award for October at University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Lor, of Menomonie, is a payroll and benefits specialist advanced in Human Resources. She has been with UW-Stout for 10 years.

Lor’s nomination stated: “Joua is extremely dedicated to her position. She goes above and beyond to make sure the students who are working on campus get paid timely and accurately. She works tirelessly to enter hundreds of student employees onto the payroll and assists student employment supervisors daily in that process.

“Joua gives 100% to her job and jumps in and helps out whenever needed. Her internal and external customer skills are exceptional. She is a standout employee, and this recognition would really be amazing for her.”

Lor said she was shocked to receive the award. “I never thought I would receive such an award,” Lor said.

Each winner receives a certificate of recognition, a UW-Stout travel mug and a UW-Stout blanket.

Students, faculty and staff may nominate university staff members who demonstrate a commitment to excellence and the university community at the University Staff Employee Appreciation Award nomination form

The award, in its 16th year, was established by the Chancellor’s Office and is co-sponsored by the University Staff Senate.
